Jonay Glez Mesa embarked on his musical journey as a guitarist at the age of three, under the guidance of his experienced father, fostering a self-taught approach. His musical education expanded with external training from acclaimed musicians like Juan María Vidal, Munir Hossn, and Yamandú Costa. In 2012, he traversed Mexico, New York, and Brazil to further hone his skills, earning admiration from audiences and professionals.

A versatile and exceptionally talented guitarist, Jonay is sought after for collaborations within the Canary Islands and internationally. His collaborations span a diverse range of artists, including Paula Morelenbaum (Brazil), Ras Kuko (Madrid), Elvis Crespo (Puerto Rico), and many others.

Jonay has graced numerous festivals and competitions worldwide, including Al Rumbo Festival (Cádiz – Spain), Rototom Sunsplash (Benicasim – Spain), and Viña Rock (Villa Robledo – Spain). He has toured with various acts such as Touché! (Bolivia-2015) and Elvis Crespo (Europe-2015).

In 2019, he released “Colours,” a production deeply rooted in jazz and world music, showcasing his guitar mastery. The compositions, influenced by Brazilian, African, and avant-garde jazz, reflect a meticulous blend of honesty and musicality. His latest album, “Solo,” was released in 2021.
